Creativity Fund: Rwanda (aka The Ingazi Fund)
The Creativity Fund: Rwanda, which puts the decision-making for Rwandan grant money into the hands of Rwandans who know and understand what is happening in their communities, was created with the help of the Creativity.
Foundation three years ago. It is a bold experiment in reimagining charitable giving. Traditionally, foreign aid decisions are made by funders who are not from or intimately familiar with the needs of communities in developing nations.
The Creativity Fund makes an impact on the pressing social needs that are identified by community members in the Southern Province of Rwanda (Nyamagabe, Gisgara, Huye) through funding local entrepreneurs who otherwise would not have the resources to meet these needs. Among the needs addressed are healthy and affordable local staple food production and processing, vocational skills for vulnerable youth, and agricultural techniques that are internationally validated and locally appropriate to increase farmer income.
In 2024, The Creativity Fund: Rwanda will use its Creativity Fund grant to
award grants to local entrepreneurs in Huye, and to support administrative costs necessary to continue with its community-based programming.
The Creativity Fund: Rwanda was the brainchild of Creativity Foundation Legacy winner Gayatri Datar.
