Y2Y Network

based in Cambridge, MA

Y2Y (Youth-2-Youth) Network effectively provides homeless youth with a safe place to sleep -- and also provides them with many other resources they need to succeed. Six years ago, Y2Y created a homeless shelter for young adults, managed primarily by young adults in Cambridge MA. And they are planning to open another in New Haven, CT. Creativity Foundation is impressed by the organization’s dedication to dignity for all, its care for the emotional and physical safety of the shelter’s guests and staff, the importance of continual evaluation and adaptability, and the need for collaboration and affirmation of young people of all gender identities.

This past year Y2Y was able to keep its doors open throughout the epidemic.  In addition, Y2Y was able to get 14 section 8 lifetime housing vouchers from the Cambridge Housing Authority -- and it is helping its guests move into this permanent housing, giving them six months of basic needs support, a “kit” from local churches, and other services.

Y2Y network was the brainchild of Creativity Foundation Legacy winner Sam Greenberg and his partner Sarah Rosenkrantz.
